Let me tell you a story…
I was showing one of my rehabs and a comment was made about how modern, crisp, and clean it looked.
I replied that it was my specific choice of white paint that made it stand out.
The prospect looked at me to see if I was serious.
I wasn’t.
It was a joke born out of frustration.
Part of my rehabs and rentals mean I need to have the places painted.
As with all the design work, there are a lot of choices to be made.
Even with something as simple as “white” paint.
Yes, even plain-old white paint has an absurd number of different shades.
Must be northwards of 538 shades.
And you’d be surprised at how long you can spend starting at the paint chips and sample cards to see which one is “just right”.
I’ve got news for you…
They’re all basically the same.
You don’t even see the slight differences once you aren’t comparing them anymore.
So stop procrastinating.
Choose a shade — any shade — and MOVE ON.
If you are prone to perfectionism,
If you get stuck on making every choice like it’s a choice between life and death,
If you exist totally in analysis paralysis,
Just get over it.
Recognize that it’s just white.
The differences are miniscule.
Choose one and you’ll be happy that you did.
Make completing tasks your addiction, not getting stuck on them and tripped up by the pointless details.
Just make a decision and move on.
They all aren’t really all that different.
Once you move ahead you’ll be happy with your choice.
Make the choice and move on.
Obviously this applies to the rest of your real estate business too, not just paint choices.
If you’ve been stuck there too, it’s probably from the same behavior.
So…
Don’t fall into the trap of getting stuck on every choice.
Learn to make a decision and then implement it.
