Anytime I was unfamiliar with the specifics of a street block in Baltimore, I would ask a property manager there what he thought of it as an investment for me.
If it was good to wholesale or to hold as a rental, he’d tell me the details.
If it was a rotted-out blighted area where the risk was just too high, he’d simply tell me “That’s where they film ‘The Wire'”.
“The Wire” was an HBO crime drama set in Baltimore about drug dealers and the corruption throughout the city and government. Much of it was filmed there too.
The rentals were affordable for me, but the hassle factor was too much for my tastes. So I started to focus back home in DC.
Even then I found rentals not really my cup of tea.
Guess I just don’t have the patience for it.
Dealing with renters didn’t excite me.
