Let me tell you a story.
I’m in London right now visiting “mates” from when I was at university in the UK.
As we were reminiscing about the good ole days, one of my friends reminded me about the Portuguese kid named Joe who used to live next door to me back then.
I once visited his hometown during a swing through Portugal and he took me on a driving tour of Oporto.
Joe very “boy racer”.
Drove like a bat out of you-know-what all day long.
I kept envisioning some colossal high speed wreck.
And yet it was a simple low-speed accident that actually got us.
We were barely rolling through an intersection and suddenly a pickup truck slammed into my side of the car.
The last thing I saw was my window shattering into a thousand pieces and then starting to splash toward me.
A second later I was covered in glass bits.
The entire front-end had been crushed and my door was jammed closed.
Joe jumped out his window and started yelling at the other driver vividly and punctuated it all with lots of hand movements.
I unbuckled and then pulled myself to the driver’s side and then up and out the broken window.
As it was election night in Portugal tons of people were instantly around us as revelers from each political party were out rallying for their candidate.
One of the political motorcades started to drive in circles around us.
The lead car had a giant bullhorn loudspeaker strapped to the hood and they carried on with their ear-splitting propaganda while we just stood there with the wrecked vehicles.
The whole scene was surreal.
Luckily, neither of us had any injuries. Only the car was totaled.
Which got me thinking…
People worry about the big wrecks and stay overly cautious, but then something simple happens and gets you anyway.
So what’s the worse that’s gonna happen if you take the “big” risk and plunge into the real estate business?
You might lose it all.
But you might lose it all doing what you’re already doing.
Or worse, you’ll never have even had it to lose in the first place.
And you will have missed out on one of the greatest thrills of life: starting a business of your own, making a name for yourself, and living the lifestyle you’ve always wanted.
That’s the real risk.
It’s your choice.
