I watched “Creed” on an airplane back from South America yesterday.
It was good — very inspiring like all of the Rocky movies.
And you gotta hand it to Sylvester Stallone, he’s created 2 enduring American icons: Rocky and Rambo, and his career has certainly not been all massive successes, there were plenty of flops and failures, but he keeps going no matter how many times he gets knocked down.
(Yes, that pun was intended — and there’s a huge lesson in his career for anyone in business.)
Here’s another BIG lesson…
Rocky Balboa said:
“You hang out with coconuts, you get nowhere.”
Yeah, that’s right champ, who you choose to “follow” makes a big difference.
Most people follow nonsense and naysayers, waste their time away on meaningless junk, and then wonder why they stay stuck.
I CHOOSE to follow SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE.
And if someone is truly successful, then they are worth learning from and emulating.
(If they aren’t successful, then why would you bother taking any advice at all from them, coconut head?)
When I first met “The Queen of Rehab” Robyn Thompson I was impressed.
She knew her business inside out.
Had it all highly systematized.
And actually ran her business like a business.
Not something you see every day.
So I took notice.
In the 10+ years since, I’ve gotten to know her better.
And I’m even MORE impressed.
She has a solid business mind and a discipline and drive that is unparalleled.
I have taken what I’ve learned from her and used it to grow my business in size, scope, deals, and most importantly, PROFITS.
She has many keys to success.
The one that I put right at the top is her FOCUS.
She has no problem focusing on what needs to be done and then actually taking the steps to do it.

Because FOCUS and DISCIPLINE are what most people lack.
They muck around worrying about everything else except what actually needs to be done right now. And then they wonder why they don’t achieve the same level of success.
