President Eisenhower said:
“Plans are nothing. Planning is everything.”
Yet how many of us jump into business (and life) with absolutely no real planning at all?
Then are disappointed at the lack of results from the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach?
It’s a story told way too often…
Eisenhower continued:
“In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable. It’ll start you off on the right foot, or show you how to re-structure what you already have to massively improve it.”
I too find planning indispensable.
Even if the original plans look nothing like the path that actually winds up occurring.
* I plan my marketing.
* I plan my negotiations.
* I plan every aspect of taking a deal down.
And does this make it all go according to plan?
Heck no!
But, exactly like Eisenhower says, it lets me see the holes in my processes and gives me an opportunity to correct them before it’s too late.
If I didn’t focus on planning, my business wouldn’t be nearly as valuable as it is today.
