Some people were offended by my “Business Multiple Sclerosis” message.
I was told it was a poor analogy, that it’s wrong to compare an actual disorder, disease, or anything of the sort to a business.
People do get offended so easily these days!
They’re just way too wound up for their own good. Makes me wonder if they have the backbone to actually succeed in the business world or if they only know how to curl up and complain…
So let me share this with you: I actually have Multiple Sclerosis. The real Multiple Sclerosis. And it ain’t pretty, but I’m still alive and kicking.
It was shocking when I first found out.
I couldn’t control my eyes. They kept moving in random directions and were out of sync with each other making my vision unclear and very unsteady. Not a very pleasant sensation…
A string of doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong. They all missed it.
But then I found the right doctor. Someone who recognized the symptoms. Someone who knew what it was that was hitting me.
Much like a business mentor who actually works in the business day-in and day-out — they instinctively know their game — they don’t have to guess and test, they don’t have to give out their random opinion only to be almost immediately proven wrong by someone who actually knows what they’ve doing.
But I digress…
This doctor actually said I was lucky. You see, before he sent me for the MRI, he was almost certain I had a tumor. And a tumor in that part of the brain is inoperable.
It would have been curtains for me…
So, yes, I like to think I can beat the odds. I have in many areas of my life. Not just in health, but in business as well.
