And so it was written:
“My mojito in La Bodeguita.”
“My daiquiri in El Floridita.”
The sign, written in Ernest Hemmingway’s own hand, hangs proudly above the bar in each location in Havana, Cuba.
And basically guarantees a non-stop flow of customers forever.
Both bars were packed with tourists.
Italians, Spaniards, Brits, French, etc.
And a handful of Americans actively ignoring the travel ban still in place.
All on the “Hemingway Trail” looking for a taste of style and adventure.
Is that all it takes to keep a business afloat?
A celebrity endorsement?
Sometimes, yes.
But that’s few and far between. Like lightening striking twice.
To be honest, there were much better bars in Havana to hang out at.
Perhaps the endorsement killed what it was he used to like about the places.
Funny how that works.
So for your business, you can wait around and try to get the celebrity endorsement, or you can actively work to make yourself and your business into something great on your own.
Is that more work?
Yes.
Yes it is.
But it’s worth it, as then you have something sustainable and something you know works.
And you can tweak or rebuild it over time as needed if circumstances change.
Even if celebrity fades away.
So my sign will read:
“My business education at Traction.”
