Getting smacked for missing the basics

Let me tell you a story…

A few weeks ago I was master-minding in Costa Rica with another entrepreneur.

Daily adventure and activity.

Followed by some work time.

The adrenaline and action really gets the juices flowing.

And with people from completely different businesses you are able to get perspective.

Perspective that you otherwise wouldn’t have.

What was amusing and interesting is how easy it is to miss the basics.

One gets caught up in all the minutia of their business, but misses some of the important structural elements.

There’s no exceptions.

I was guilty too.

So having an outside set of eyes take a fresh look at my business was very helpful.

We shared openly, and…

In an instant he saw what I was missing from my business.

And in an instant I pointed out the basics he was missing from his.

It’s a forest for the trees scenario.

We both had been blind to what was effectively right in front of us.

And when it was pointed out to us, it was like a smack in the face.

Masterminding together showed us what needed to be fixed.

Why does this work?

Why is it so important?

Because it’s the core basics that matter.

That’s what builds a successful and thriving business (in any market or economy).

And that’s what so many people miss because they get caught up in all the hullabaloo of black hat ninja tricks or online business loopholes.

Stop worrying about trying to fleece Google or hack Facebook and just focus on building a ragingly successful business.

When you offer something people actually need and want, and you communicate it correctly to the right audience, then you’ll have a successful business.
