Don’t overspend on training

A reader writes in:

“Good morning Mr. Zeeb,
You wrote: “So, bottom-line, nothing else really matters in your real estate investing business if you don’t get the marketing right.”

No wiser words have ever been spoken.  I could NOT agree more!  The problem for my wife and I, is that after donating $40k+ to other so-called REI “gurus” to teach us how to “get the marketing right”, we no longer have any funds left to hire someone to do it for us.  Just the very harsh reality of things.  Hopefully after our condo sells, we can look further into that option.”

Funny you say that, because I was told recently by a number of “gurus” that I sell my Rapid Cash Generator for way too low of a price.

After all, many big programs get between $25,000 and $40,000 for providing basically the same thing. (as you seem to well know based on your message).

I explained why I don’t charge more.

The reason is 2-fold.

#1: First and foremost, teaching isn’t my main business.

Teaching fulfills a personal mission for me. I want to impact as many people as possible and develop their entrepreneurial spirit for real estate.

Independent entrepreneurs can achieve a massive level of success which enhances America, lets them support their families, live life on their own terms, and retire with dignity.

So why charge at all then?

Because if I don’t charge anything, then people don’t value the information enough to bother to implement it the way I teach you to. It just blends in with all the other free information out there that people read, feel good about, and then do absolutely nothing with.

Charging for it motivates you to value it and act on it. (Argue that all you want, but I’ve tested this aggressively over the years.)

I also don’t have to pay sales teams and employees massive amounts (all of which is overhead) just to make any profit. So I keep my expenses down so I can keep my prices reasonable.

Could I charge more?

Yes.

But that leads me to #2…

#2: You will need some money available for marketing. If you spend all your money on training, there won’t be any left in the budget to pay for marketing.

Yes, some marketing I teach you is free.

But other techniques cost money. For example, the post office will charge you for postage, and flyers and ads cost money to print, etc.

So it’s your call.

Other programs hire better salesmen than me to sell you into their programs.

But that won’t make you any richer.

And it will probably leave you with little left to actually invest into your marketing efforts.
