Equal outcome or equal opportunity?

There’s a lot of talk out there about growing inequality.

Income inequality specifically.

And lifestyle inequality.

But all of it is political.

Not practical.

And the reasons people are screaming about it aren’t reality based.

Especially in America.

If you want something, then go out and there work to make it happen.

Just don’t expect anyone to hand it to you.

Will you get it on the first try just because you want it?

Probably not.

I didn’t.

And most successful people I know didn’t either.

We had to do focused work and put in effort over time.

But “WORK” and “EFFORT” have basically become 4-letter words to many people.

They think they are just entitled to success just because they exist.

Sorry Charlie, but you do have to earn your stripes.

When there’s an opportunity you need to take it and run with it.

And that’s all you can ask for.

OPPORTUNITY and then the chance to make something of it.

The outcome is NOT guaranteed.

(nor should it be.)

“Sameness” cannot NOT be guaranteed.

(nor should it be.)

Only your opportunity to make it happen should be unrestricted.

You might succeed.

Or you might fall flat on your face.

But as long as you get up and try again, you’ll be good in the end.

Only quitters really lose (as the old saying goes).

So YOU have to make it happen.

You and only you.

Not someone else.

And certainly not the government.

They can’t do it for you.

Only you can do it for yourself.

You need help and you need a clear path to follow, but the actual implementation is solely up to you.

And that implementation is what will get you success.

Inequality of outcome isn’t wrong, bad, or evil. Because different people will implement to different degrees and get different outcomes.

As long as you have the  OPPORTUNITY then the end result is your responsibly.

So stop comparing yourself to anyone else.

If you like what someone else has, that fine. Then come up with a plan to do the same thing for your life.

But recognize that it wasn’t just handed to them.

There was work to be done to get the deal.

So stop being endlessly and emptily envious and start making things happen to yourself.

The opportunity is now.
